Now in their 33rd year, and presented by leading trade publication Air Cargo News, the awards are considered the ‘Oscars’ of an industry that transports more than 50m tonnes of goods every year with a market value of $7trn.
The airline awards are based on the voting results of more than 18,000 supply chain professionals over a two month period.
Shippers, the beneficial owners of the goods, and their logistics partners were asked to vote on the publication’s website for the airline that provided the best overall customer experience and for the best service provider in each region.
The award to Lufthansa Cargo was presented to Thomas Egenolf, Director, during a gala dinner at the Lancaster London Hotel, an event attended by more than 400 air cargo professionals from across the globe.
Roger Hailey, editor of Air Cargo News: “Once again the air cargo industry has proven that innovation and customer service go hand in hand with efficient and secure global supply chains.
“Lufthansa is a worthy winner of this award, as recognised by peer group professionals who voted in recognition of its valuable contribution to air cargo in Europe. Congratulations”.
There were a total of 14 categories in the 2016 Cargo Airline of the Year awards, based on a mix of direct voting, company submissions and two awards within the gift of the editor.
